Happy New Year! Our resolutions for 2006 are:

1. To help build networks throughout Wisconsin that result in better and more creative use of the resources that contribute to a vital rural Wisconsin.

2. To provide opportunities for rural community leaders to enhance their skills, learn community-building tools, share resources and information, and celebrate success and innovation.

3. To ensure that rural voices are heard in the creation, deliberation and distribution of resources that affect the quality of life in rural communities.

Charting a Course for WRP's New Future

From October through December, 2005, the Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc. Board of Directors has been working to set a course for WRP's New Future. This initiative was spurred by the changing rural development policy and funding environment in which we work. As a result, WRP has a new mission statement:

"Wisconsin Rural Partners develops networks, leadership and voice for rural Wisconsin."

Within our new mission statement are three objectives which constitute the framework for our new strategic plan and which will guide our annual work plan. These objectives are leadership development; voice; and network building and support. The next step for the WRP New Future initiative is to establish an updated organizational structure for the Partnership. Stay tuned as this process unfolds in the first quarter of 2006...
