Wisconsin Rural Summit 3

The Wisconsin Rural Summit 3 was held on May 2, 2000 in Wausau, Wisconsin. The Summit featured small group dialogue on rural Wisconsin issues, and action agenda-setting for the next 12-18 months.

Don Macke of the Nebraska Rural Development Commission was the featured keynote speaker at the Rural Summit luncheon. Mr. Macke shared the story of the development the Nebraska Community Foundation, a statewide organization that links, coordinates and assists smaller, community-based foundations across Nebraska. According to Mr. Macke, the Nebraska Community Foundation has been instrumental in bringing philanthropic support to Nebraska's rural communities, helping to re-energize economies and grow citizen participation in community activities.

The work of the participants at the Wisconsin Rural Summit 3 set the agenda for Wisconsin Rural Partners' work plan and was conveyed to public policy makers. Unfortunately, due to electronic data loss, the reports from the Rural Summit 3 are no longer available.
