3rd Annual

Taking Leadership to the Next Level.

Community leaders gathered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on April 13 & 14, 2005 for the 3rd Annual Wisconsin Community Leadership Summit, hosted by Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc., the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.

The theme of the Summit, "Taking Leadership to the Next Level," carried over themes and feedback from participants at the 2004 2nd Annual Summit. "Next level" topics were reflected in the agenda of 25 small, interactive workshops; a large, plenary "adventure" workshop led by Tim Pflieger of Team Leadership Center, Inc.; a keynote luncheon with Bliss Browne, director of Imagine Chicago, and a closing awards luncheon with Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction Elizabeth Burmaster.

Workshops gave participants learning options to enhance their leadership skills, share resources and information, learn community-building tools, create partnerships and networks, and recognize outstanding community leadership.

The Summit was augmented by awards presentations of Wisconsin's Top Rural Development Initiatives and the Wisconsin Community Leadership Awards.

The Summit was sponsored by 21 agencies, corporations and organizations (listed below) who support quality professional development and networking opportunities for elected, business, civic and volunteer community leaders.

Mike Anderson of Black River Falls (pictured below) and Nick Salm of Antigo (not pictured) each received the Wisconsin Community Leadership Award for individual achievement; and the Community Foundation of South Wood County (pictured below) received the Wisconsin Community Leadership Award for organizational achievement. Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction Elizabeth Burmaster presented the awards.
